Our Walking Field Trip (Exploring the Neighborhood around School)...

What a fun treat to leave campus and take a walk around the school to learn more about our neighborhood.  We started out using a walking rope to keep everyone together, then abandoned it halfway through the trip (it was really slowing us down).  The kids were AWESOME!!  They stayed together, followed the rules, and tried really hard to listen and look for signs of nature.  We identified houses, cars, trees, birds, fruit, garbage, street lights, road signs, and many other things that are found in a neighborhood.  Please enjoy the pictures and ask your kids about their neighborhood walk tonight.  I'm sure they can tell you all about the experience!!

WE ARE SO EXCITED TO START OUR NEIGHBORHOOD WALK!!

Have a wonderful 3-day weekend.  No school Monday in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  Hopefully the weather will clear up and your family can take a neighborhood walk around your home and your children can tell you all the things they find in your neighborhood!!

The kids first saw cars in the neigborhood.
Next, they spotted some trees.

This is the bridge behind the school.
Here is the creek that runs behind our school.

Some kids liked finding rocks and plants, others just liked spotting "poop".

Careful now as we cross the bridge!

Everyone made it safely across!  Now let's find that family of deer!!
