The 2014 Cordelia Hills Kindergarten Thanksgiving Feast...

Here is a collection of photos of this great event.  We all had a great time dressing up and recreating the First Thanksgiving by coming together with friends from other classes to share a meal.
Thank you to all the parents that helped to make this happen.
Easily our best Thanksgiving Feast yet!!
Enjoy the pictures, and email me more if you have them.
-Mr. Linnet

The Food: Turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, yams, green beans, salad, bread, rolls, lumpia, chow mein (noodles), egg rolls, cornbread, pies, jello, etc.  So much good food from our families!!

The Feast: Orange placemats for the Pilgrims.  Brown placemats for the Native Americans.
Mixing it up with all of our friends.  Fellowship, Food, and Fun memories made at each table.

The Fun: Check out how excited and happy they are!  We had such a great time today!!

Bring the family out to see "The Nutcracker"...

One of our classmates is performing with the Benicia Ballet Theatre on this year's production of "The Nutcracker".  The show is at Solano College, here in Cordelia, and showcases local talent.  Please come on out and watch Laci dazzle with her big sister Riley in any of the 2pm shows.  I know that I will be there to support her, I hope that you can too!!

Happy Thanksgiving to All of You!

Just a little something to think about at this time of year.  I know the kids probably won't understand it yet, but hopefully the elder eyes that read this can model its meaning and help pass the spirit and importance of Thanksgiving on to them over the years.  I'm grateful to work with all of you each year, and wish you many blessings this holiday, and for years to come.  Happy Thanksgiving.

Cornucopia Project Ideas!

This week we will be getting ready for Thanksgiving.  Our project will be making a cornucopia: either a display or a picture/painting.  I am providing some ideas and samples to help with the project.  Feel free to stray from the guided path and get creative!  Make it personal and special to you and your family.  I'm excited to see what you come up with!!

Today was PARFAIT DAY in Mr. Linnet's Class!

Since we kicked off our "food" unit this week, I thought what better way to end the week than to let the students make something tasty to eat.  This week, many of the students sent in their videos on "How to Make their Favorite Snacks", so I wanted to give all of them an opportunity to make a yummy and healthy snack themselves.  What's more fun and tasty than parfaits???

We practiced the skills (following directions) to create this layered treat.  Then when we were finished we created a graphic organizer to take home that retold the steps to make it (sequence of events).  The class had a lot of fun, and I think some of them even found a new favorite treat!

Here are some pics of the class getting ready to devour their delectable creations.

How to Make my Favorite Snack!

Check out the fun "How To..." videos that our class made.  The project goal was for the students to record themselves making their favorite snack.  I love how we have the technology available today to do fun stuff like this!!

Here is Sydney showing how to make a Nutella Sandwich.

Here Gianna gives a professional video on how to make strawberries.

Here is "Camila Makes a Sandwich", Parts 1 and 2.

Here are 3 videos on "How to Make Tuna Fish", by Sebastian.
Here is Sebastian showing us how he eats tuna on crackers.

Chef Ethan makes a fruit salad (parts 1 and 2).

Miguel makes Hawaiian Sweet Bread with Cream Cheese.
(I love how he squishes it before he eats it!)
Jaden shows us how to make a bowl of cereal.
Nytasha makes a ham and cheese pizza snack.
