"Pp" Week Pictures!!!

Help me fill a post with as many "P" pictures as possible. Let your child use your tablet or smartphone to take and send me a picture of something that begins with the letter "P".  They can take pictures of foods, animals, billboards, people, anything!!!  (Pink Princess costume, pigs, pumpkin patch, pizza, pianos, puppies, paintings, popcorn, or peanuts are all great ideas that our class came up with!)

This Week's Home Project: Kitchen Phonics "Make Apple Muffins"

I thought this week it would be fun to let the kids get messy in the kitchen with you as we review the letters "Aa" and "Mm" by having them help you make "A"pple "M"uffins!!

You can get creative and use any recipe you wish, but I wanted to help so I found an easy one on Pinterest that I thought could help to get you started.  Don't forget to send in those pics when you are finished (or let your child bring them to school as their snack next week)!
Happy Baking my Phonetic Chefs!!

This Week's "At-Home" Project: Make a Family Album!

Adam's Family Album
Adrian's Family Album

Alex's Family Album
Jimmiel's Family Album

Taytum's Family Album

Youko's Family Album

Anthony's Family Album

Robby's Family Album
Hopefully many of you were able to understand what to do with the packet of pages I sent home, but I wanted to allow your child the opportunity to make their own Family Album.  We have been studying "Family" in the classroom and learning about animal families, so I thought it would be a great extension to let the children make a keepsake that helps them learn the names and vocabulary associated with a family.  I titled pages around vocabulary like "mom", "dad", "sister", "brother", and "grandparents".  You are free to edit these pages or make your own to reflect the various members of your family (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.).  I am providing some pics to help you see my vision for this project.  Feel free to deviate as needed to let your creativity flow and make something your child will cherish and use throughout the year!

When finished you have a nice album that your child can read whenever they want to look at their family members and practice reading their names.  Feel free to use a real photo album if you have one or introduce your child to scrapbooking (if that's your thing).  My son Skylar was very happy that I was making this for him and wanted me to make "lot's more pages" of his family.  I can't wait to see your child's finished albums and hope that they like making this as much as we did in my home!!

The Packet Provided.
Not stapled so that
you can create to
reflect your family.

Step One: Give your album a title.
(I recommend using your child's name
and the word "family".)

Step Two: Read the sentence.
Help your child choose a photo
or draw a picture of the family member.
Write the person's name.

Continue making pages for your child.
Let your child choose fun photos that
recall special memories!

Include photos of that person with
your child when possible.  Personal
connection is always a plus!!

Step Three: Organize the pages
into an album.  Let your child
pick the order and connect
the pages with staples or string.

This Week's "At-Home" Project: ABC Animals!!

This week's project is working with ABC Order.  The animals are all jumbled up at the bottom of the page, can your children put them in order?  You can do this as a worksheet (as I modeled for you below), or you can NOT glue the pictures on the rocks and turn it into a game.  Game directions are at the bottom.  Feel free to email a picture of you and your child doing this project or playing it in a game and I will add it to our blog!

Step 1: Color the Pictures.
 Step 2: Cut them Out.
Step 3: Glue the Pictures
in ABC Order.
Step 4: Label each picture
with beginning letter.
*Optional: Mark off unused letters
at the top to help child put them in order.
*Write the name of each picture for your child to
practice reading the names of the animals.

*Game option:  After your child colors and cuts out the pictures, you can label the rocks with the letters, then have them take turns pulling the pictures out of a cup/bag and trying to match it with the letter.  The nice thing about this option, is you can reuse it again and again as a game to help your child develop phonemic awareness skills by matching letters and sounds with the pictures.  Have fun!!
