Wow, can you believe this school year is almost over?!? It has been a busy, and joyful school year. Your children have learned so much, and now "Spring Fever" is beginning to set in. As the temperature continues to rise, so does student's lack of focus. Please remind your child to give their best each day, and continue trying to learn all that they can before they leave for Summer Vacation.
As you know, I have stopped giving books for your child to read in their Homework Packets. They should still be reading every day however. With the class size as large as it is, I need to stop earlier so that I can make sure they are all returned and accounted for. I plan on giving Homework for at least the next 3 weeks. I haven't decided if I will stop 1 or 2 weeks before the school year ends, but I will let you know as we get closer.
You should have all received your Progress Reports this week, and hopefully you took some time to look them over. The majority of the students have made tremendous progress this year and are definitely ready for what awaits them next school year. If your child still has some targets to work on, please take advantage of the time we have left this year to help your child master these skills. I will help in any way I can, just let me know what you need to help them away from school. Also, if Summer School was a recommendation for your child, please seriously consider it. Our school site doesn't usually have the opportunity to offer this program to our students, and if I am suggesting it, I do believe it will be beneficial to your child. You should expect to receive more information about it in the coming weeks, as it becomes available to me.
The Howl is on the last day of the month (Friday, May 31st). I just received the Volunteer Sign-up Sheet from our school's PTA, and our game is the "Pie in the Face" booth. I am personally overseeing this event, and it should be a lot of fun for the students. If any of you are interested and available to help with that event (collecting tickets, prepping the "pies", helping clean up the teachers/booth, etc.) please email or stop by the classroom to sign up for a time. They are 1 hour blocks (5-6pm, 6-7pm, and 7-8pm), which allows you to help the school run the programs, but still allows you a couple hours to enjoy the festivities with your family and check out the baskets available in the Silent Auction. If you are interested in helping with other events (Cake Booth/ Fish Booth/ Silent Auction/ etc.), just email me with what you are wanting to do, and I will find out which teacher is in charge of that event. Thanks again for all the donations, I believe that our baskets are going to be amazing!!
Thank you all for such an incredible school year. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with your children and getting to know all of you. I feel blessed to live in and work with such a positive and caring community of people. Thanks for making my job a little bit easier!!
Enjoy the beautiful sunny weather and try to stay cool everyone!
-Mr. Linnet
