P is for PLANTS! (Student Plant Collages)

This past week I assigned an At-Home Project where students go on a nature hike with their family looking at plants.  We have been learning about what plants need, also practicing the letter P in class.  Here are the collages that my students shared with me.  What "P"recious "P"rojects you created!!

Plant Survey Projects (November At-Home Assignment)

If you haven't started yet, please consider doing a Plant Survey Project with your homework.  You can work on it all month.  You can choose to find exotic plants at a nursery, or just some cool plants in your own backyard.

The kids are asking questions to learn more about this plant.

This month one of our learning focus themes is about plant and animal needs.  The At-Home Assignment provided in your Homework Packets is conducting a Plant Survey.  The worksheet and questions are provided.  All you need to do is find a really cool plant that you want to learn more about...and an expert to ask your questions to.  Mom and Dad can take a picture of your special plant, and a grownup can help you write down the responses your expert gives you.  Plants are an essential part of all life on earth.  They provide us with food, oxygen, tools, shelter, even clothes.  It's hard to imagine what life would be like on Earth if we didn't have any plants.  Would humans even be able to survive here without them???

Have fun and please share what you learn with all of your friends at school!
