The Color Run is Back On!!

Families, we are gearing up again for the Color Run.  It has been rescheduled for November 8th.  If you still haven't signed your child up or uploaded a picture to make a video, please consider doing so tonight.  It is a quick and easy way to get the message out and help your child receive pledges (just upload the video link to social media and your friends and family will make pledges online).

Here is my son's video to give you an idea of what they look like.  I will also repost the funrun link so that you can get your child started if you need to.  Right now our class alone has raised over $750 for our school.  I am hoping that we can double that number if we all do our part in getting the message out to our community!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Tomorrow is Halloween at Cordelia Hills.  The students will start the day with a short parade (parents are welcome to stay and watch in the amphitheater), then we will return to class and start our day.  In our class we will do Halloween-themed activities, read Halloween stories, and watch Halloween video clips throughout the day.  Students may bring a change of clothes if they do not wish to wear their costume all day, but we will NOT be helping them change.  Also students are not allowed to bring weapons to school with their costumes (so all you pirates, ninjas, and police officers).

Please arrive on time and ready for fun!  We will NOT be giving out candy or treats tomorrow, so please save all of that for home.  If any of you want to stay and help in the classroom, you are more than welcome, just be sure to check in with the front office and get a visitor's badge.

Thanks!!

Red Ribbon Week: "What I Am" from Sesame Street

Just a fun song to help students remember why it is important to "JUST SAY NO TO DRUGS!!"
Please take some time out this week to discuss with your children what Red Ribbon Week means to you and your family.  Encourage them to be strong and stand up for themselves.  Maybe have them draw pictures about things that are better than drugs and alcohol.  (Ex- Bikes are cool...not drugs!)

2017 Boosterthon Color Run is Coming to Cordelia Hills!!

Parents,

Our class is having a blast preparing for the Coyote Color Run coming up soon! We've also begun to learn how to "be brave" and live with character through Boosterthon's character theme, Castle Quest. On their quest to regain Bravemore Castle, our students are learning the "SIX VIRTUES of a TRUE HERO" from a cast of colorful characters. Make sure to ask your students what they've learned each day, and together you can watch the story unfold on funrun.com!

Remember, we need your help connecting to sponsors who can make a pledge to help our school! Please make sure all pledges for the laps are entered on funrun.com. The more pledges we get, the more incentives our class earns on our Pledge-O-Meter. Plus, for every $30 per lap our class pledges, a donation will be made to help teachers fund their classroom projects through Boosterthon's giveback initiative, Project Classroom. I know our students are excited to rise to the challenge and lend a helping hand to teachers everywhere!

Thank you for your generosity and support of our school. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Have a great day!

P.S. Make sure to register your child on funrun.com. He or she will receive a FREE GIFT just for being signed up. Use our school registration code: 519387

Project Details:
*Students choose a Favorite Character from a story to make a tactile portrait of.
*Parents may print out a picture of the character to use as a guide.
*Glue the picture to cardboard or other sturdy object to build the portrait on.
*Students use everyday objects found around the house to complete the portrait.

*Students need to write 3 words that describe the character on the portrait.

*Students MUST use at least 3 colors AND 3 different tactile elements in their portrait.
*Portrait MUSt be of a storybook character (not tv character, family member, or themselves).

Be Creative!  Have Fun!  Make something

AWESOME!!!
*Check out Nadiya's work on her Tactile Character Project.  She chose to make a horse from one of her favorite books on horses.  Fantastic job, Nadiya!!
