Chicks update - Earth Day

Hello Class, here are the newest pics of your chicks.  I labeled them like I did two weeks ago so you can see how much each of them have changed.  They are getting so big.  In a couple more weeks I will hopefully be able to keep them outside.  Happy Earth Day!!

Baby Chick ID Contest!

Help us Out!!
So these are our baby chicks.  They are growing fast!  I got them for a Life Cycles unit our Kindergarten team is doing, but I forgot to get the breed names for each of them (Yes, they are all different breeds).

Let's have a guessing game and see what they are.  Everyone that's interested can comment back what breed they think they are, and I'll share a followup pic after they mature to full grown chicks, to see if you're right.

My students are loving this unit of study, and can't wait to see what they become.  They made their predictions today in their observation journals!!

Student of the Week: DeAnna!

This week we get to celebrate our friend DeAnna.  She is a bright and cheerful student that shares her enthusiasm and helpfulness with others every day in the classroom.  DeAnna loves her family, her friends, and her dog Buttercup.  She enjoys eating spaghetti (but only with the meatballs cut in half), playing soccer, and reading "Green Eggs and Ham" by Dr. Seuss.  DeAnna enjoys going to Chuck E. Cheese, Disneyland, and camping with her family.  When she grows up she wants to be a veterinarian so she can help animals that are hurt or sick.  Thank you so much for adding your vibrant personality to our classroom.  It's so much fun being your teacher, DeAnna!!

This week's Digital Homework Packet & Field Trip Reminder

In case anyone is having trouble accessing the links provided, hopefully this digital copy helps in accessing the content for this week's Homework.  I hope you are all liking the new format.  The kids seemed to really enjoy the flexibility of choice and the freedom to choose some of their own interests to study.  Remember, the content doesn't usually show up on mobile devices, so accessing from a home computer is preferred (if available).

Digital Homework: April 3-7, 2017

Also, just a reminder that this week we are going to Oakland this Thursday to visit Chabot Space & Science Museum, then to get out into nature at Joaquin Miller Park.  It should be a fantastic adventure, so make sure your children bring their lunches, their enthusiasm, a water bottle, and their curiosity.  It's destined to be "out of this world"!!!
